Vivid Look of Small and Cottage Industry Fair 2023 in Naogaon
In the very hot summer of July 2023, a Small and Cottage Industry Fair was started at Mukti Mor area of Naogaon to provide its residents a traditional shopping opportunity. It is traditional as it mainly has a touch of local culture and creations. The products here are handicrafts and made by small rural groups and most of them are women.
About The Fair
The fair was organized by the Trinamul Nari Uddyakta Society (GRASSROOTS). The fair was inaugurated by Naogaon Additional Deputy Commissioner Milton Chandra Roy it’s open every day from 10 am to 10 pm. Many small entrepreneurs from different locations of the country participated in the fair. The fair had a capacity for 35 stalls, displaying a variety of products, including handicrafts created by small entrepreneurs, household items, electrical goods, shoes, a variety of pickles, foods, cosmetics, women’s imitation jewelry, cottage industry products etc. The fair, though small in scale, was beautifully decorated, which was capable of attracting anyone’s attention. It has an entry fee of 10 Taka. In the past, we have not seen an entry fee to enter a fair, whether it was held in a village or town. But now it seems that the practice of charging an entry fee has started even in small town fairs like Naogaon. However, the Small and Cottage Industry Fair had no entry fee on the opening day.
The Fair in Picture
A few days after the fair had begun, we visited it to capture some pictures. Though it was well decorated, the fair looks so vivid at night. So, we visited it at night and captured the vividness touring the fair premises. See them here:
